FAQ: 12V LFP battery charging FAQ-1: I am charging the 12V/20AH with the charger (mode set for 14.7V/1A). I already charge many hours. Why is the charging so slow? Answer: Please note that a new battery is usually delivered with some 50% capacity. This means for a 20AH battery you may need to charge some 10AH of energy. If you have a 1A current charger, it may take some 10 hours to finish the charging. For faster charging we suggest you may either change the mode of your charger to a faster charging or get a faster charger with a high charging current. This will reduce your charging time. See also: FAQ-2: Finally I see some progress. The voltage increased from 13.4V to 13.6V and then relatively rapidly to 14.5V. However after reaching the 14.5V charger stopped and the voltage dropped again to 13.4V. Is the battery defective? Answer: No! The battery is not defective, This is a normal behavior. The charger must stop after reaching the full charger voltage (14.5V) and the battery slowly returns to the nominal voltage level (resting voltage level) – usually 13.4V. See also: FAQ-3: I have tried to charge the battery again and again, but the voltage does not stay at 14.5V. It always drops back to the 13.4V level. Answer: Warning. If the battery is charged, stop the charging and do not charge the battery again. The battery should be used (discharged) first before charging again. If you keep the battery charged again and again, you may destroy the battery and the battery will loose the capacity. See more: FAQ-4: I have tried several chargers to make the charge of the battery. Some charger charge to 14.4V, some to 14.5, some to 14.7V. Is there any difference in these voltages? Answer: There is not much difference between these charge levels. There is no need to be exactly specific about the full charge voltage levels. There is no big difference in capacity if charging to 14.3V, 14.5V or 14.7V levels. See more details: | |
