Question: What is the basic chemical composition of the plastic case for the LYP cells from Winston? The plastic case is made from a kind of a special plastic material based on polypropylene (PP). This materiel has been used by Winston since 2004 and has extreme life span, resistance to chemicals and good mechanical qualities to sustain the performance of the Winston cells for many years. Question: What is the melting temperature for this plastic case? The typical melting temperature is 180ºC-200ºC. Question: What is the burning (setting to fire) temperature for this plastic case? The set to fire temperature is between is 350ºC-400ºC. The material contains additional chemicals to reduce the fire risk. This means the plastic case is hard to be set on fire. Note: the manufacturer and GWL always recommend to install the batteries into a fire resistant battery cases and have the complete battery pack under constant supervision.
