Measuring energy flow at GridFree installation Question: I have a 230V wattmeter (energy meter). I have connected this meter to my GridFree installation. I want the meter to show the energy produced by the solar panel and the microinverter. It does not seem to work. What is wrong? Answer: our tests show that majority of the home energy meters do not measure energy in the reverse direction. They either show no value or show some completely incorrect reading. These simple home meters cannot be used to measure the energy in the reverse flow (from panels to the grid). We have tested one type of meter, the model POW-EM. This specific model can measure the values of the reverse energy flow as well. For exact measuring we recommend professional energy meters such as the DIN line-in meters (you can buy at your local electro-component shop). Images:
