Make your secrets open to everybody and you become successful The wrong concept: People often say: “Keep your idea in secret otherwise somebody else will steal your idea and benefit instead of you.“ Reality: The ideas are copied only after they become successful. Some time ago, when starting my business, I had one clever idea of a business plan. I expected to get a lot of money from this plan. However I spent most of my thinking how to keep the plan secret. I was fully convinced that if I mentioned just a little bit to somebody, they could easily get the idea and realize the same thing without me. I was also afraid that if some big company boss learns about this idea, they will take their money and realize the same thing in a much larger scale that I myself was able to. I learned that such thinking is wrong. Now I talk to everybody about my projects ideas and visions. There is nothing to be afraid of. The risk that somebody would take your idea is the same chance as winning a jackpot in a lottery. People who are serious about their business, have a lot of things to do, so they most likely have little time and immediate potential to start something new according to your good business idea. Also all others, who may wish to take over your smart idea, have the starting position much harder. Because they themselves did not come out with the very idea, they do not know the whole idea and they are somewhat strangers to this idea. It seems the best way is to talk openly about your ideas with other people. This way you can get input from different perspectives. As a result you will learn more and you can improve. When you keep asking other people what they think about your idea, you can learn many good thoughts and thus avoid some mistakes, especially those other people had made in the past. Every mistake costs some money, so those who keep asking and keep receiving good advice to avoid mistake are in fact saving their money. Do not keep your ideas just to yourself! | |
