Question: I have the EVBike Wheel Kit 36V/500W with 36V/10Ah battery. I try to get the maximal speed. I have set the speed of the controller to 40 km/h, but my speed is lower than this. What is the problem?

Answer: There is no problem. This situation is OK and fully normal.  The maximal speed depends on the battery voltage and the number of the power assist which you set on LCD (from 0-5). Your system works correctly.

The speed value that can be set in the LCD menu is the limit when the main controller unit will cut off power: if you set 20 km/h, the power will be cut off when you reach the 20 km/h. If you set 40 km/h, the system will work till this speed.

For technical reason the maximal speed is dependent on voltage of your battery. If you are using the 36V battery the maximum speed will be about 27 km/h at a flat terrain. If you use the 48V battery the speed will increase about +5 km/h.  For 40 km/h you need to use higher battery voltage and a more power and different controller unit (regulator). At this moment GWL does not sell such high speed components.

The maximal speed is depending also on the size of the rims. The bike with 28" wheel rims has a higher speed than a bike with 26" rims or perhaps just 20" rims.
