The purpose of the GridFree is to reduce the power consumption from the grid by means of self generation of the energy.  This is not an off-grid concept. At the GridFree installation the connection to the grid remains and a part of the energy is always taken from the grid, especially in times when there is no self-generation (e.g. at night for PV installations or in cloudy winter days.)
