The frequent issue of the pouch cells

The IR photo shows the frequent issue related to the pouch cells technology.   The connection tabs (terminal plates) are limited in size, they will overheat very quickly when loaded with high currents.

The heat from the terminal enters the area of the whole cell and causes gradual overheating. The temperature rises   as high as +55°C.

The pouch cells with flat terminals are not designed for high current applications. Use the prismatic cells with large robust screw terminals instead.
