Helping you make better battery packs

What should be improved in this installation? 1) Hard, fixed terminal connectors (made form solid materials) have no tolerance for the movement of the cells. The cells may slightly expand and shrink due to the changes of temperature, there is a need to have a flexible connection. Additionally, for automotive applications, if the cell terminals are connected very tightly, the vibrations of the whole pack are transferred on into the cell terminals. The vibration of the terminals may shorten the life-span of the cells. 2) Material of the terminal connectors. We strongly recommend using only the high-quality copper terminal plates, not some cheaper solution made from other alloys. 3) There is a tightening black belt, or a mounting strapping belt, that goes over the cells and pressures the terminals. The long-time pressure on the terminals will influence the performance of the cells. It may cause twisting, degradation or failure of the terminal, resulting in the poor performance of the cells. The GWL/Power’s suggestion is to mount the cells in the proper way in a fixed container solution. For example, using the GWL/Modular Flexi Pack solution. | |
