Using the LFP cells and LP batteries in the sea/lake ships and boats
Many boats’ owners have installed the LiFePO4 cells (or 12V LP batteries) into their boats. There are several possible applications for the lithium iron cells:
1) Boats with electric engines The LFP cells/LP batteries are used to replace conventional lead-acid (SLA) batteries. Advantages: the lithium solution is lighter, provides higher capacity and discharge currents. The LFP cells/LP batteries allow for faster charging and keep the performance even at low temperatures (Nordic Sea).
2) Boats with electric equipments on board The LFP cells/LP batteries provide the power for the on-board equipment during on-sea trips. They are used to replace the lead acid battery bank. The LFP cells/LP batteries are lighter, give higher capacity and last longer.
3) Boats with solar charging (solar panels) The LFP cells/LP batteries replace the “solar charge lead-acid batteries”. They work fine with many solar charge controllers. Unlike lead-acid (SLA) batteries, the LFP/LP solution allows for faster charging (more solar panels can be used). The battery bank can have significantly higher capacity while keeping the original weight.
Conclusion: The LFP cells/LP batteries are a universal solution to replace the lead-acid (SLA) batteries. With the LFP cells/LP batteries you will ge a longer time on the sea!
