FAQ: Consumer goods or Industrial components

Question: Does the Directive 1999/44/EC apply to purchase of industrial goods from GWL/Power?

A) Please note that the Directive clearly defines the consumer

2. For the purposes of this Directive:

(a) consumer: shall mean any natural person who, in the contracts covered by this Directive, is acting for purposes which are not related to his trade, business or profession;

Consumer is only a natural person, not a company or a business entity. The consumer is not buying for his trade, business or profession.

B) The goods sold by GWL/Power is not a consumer goods, but professional industrial components.  They are designed to be used only by people who have sufficient professional knowledge of the products.
