How does BMS2405 perform balancing charge?

BMS2405 supports the balancing function of all cells by 500mA current. The algorithm is described at the picture. When balancing, the balancing current is taken 90% of the time.

The BMS2405 supports the gradual – continuous balancing during the whole charge process.  Each cell balancing resistor is enabled when voltage difference between lowest voltage cells and other cells is more then pre-set parameter “Cell voltage difference”.

The unique feature of this BMS is the possibility to balance the battery pack during a single charging cycle.  If you keep the charger connected to the BMS charge relay, the BMS2405 will turn on/off the charger and will perform the gradual balancing of the cells.

Caution! If the difference between SOC of individual cells is high, this kind of gradual balancing might take a very long time. This is not good for LiFePo4 cells. BMS should be used only as a last level of protection and not to be used as a on-off switch.
